The hardest ticket to get in DC now is one to CBTU's 90th Birthday Tribute to Bill Lucy on Sunday, Dec. 10. It's been sold out for weeks. Hot, hot, hot!
Danny Glover is flying in from California to pay tribute to his dear friend and ally in the struggle, Bill Lucy. He and President Emeritus Lucy go way, way back to their days fighting for Nelson Mandela's freedom and workers' rights across the U.S. and around the world. Mr. Glover introduced President Lucy when he was given the NAACP Chairman's Award. He has also spoken at numerous CBTU conventions.
How significant is Bill Lucy and his 90th birthday? Well, Marcia Fudge, an appointee of President Joe Biden, has accepted an invitation to pay tribute to President Emeritus Bill Lucy at CBTU's 90th birthday celebration this Sunday, Dec. 10. Fudge, who Biden picked as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in 2021, has put a spotlight on eradicating homelessness and ending discriminatory housing practices. Her mother, Marian Garth, is a longtime CBTU member and volunteer in the Cleveland area. Secretary Fudge considers President Lucy a close and dear friend of the family.
